Earth Day 2020

Celebrating

Earth Day

MetaSpiritually!

Earth Day has a whole new meaning in 2020, in our opinion! More than ever we are realizing how connected we all are across time and space -- and how our choices can affect others around the world! Earth Day was first celebrated on April 22, 1970, and now includes events coordinated globally in more than 193 countries!

We support Earth Day, and value of learning how we can each take actions to make a difference and save this beautiful world in which we live! We also believe there are MetaSpiritual implications to Earth Day!

It struck us that the same advice we keep hearing from the environmentalists, to improve our personal “Carbon footprint,”  applies to our spiritual footprint as well. So let’s take a new look at some familiar recommendations, and create an action plan for our own “Earth Day.”

Believe it or not, there are 3 — plus 1— R’s that are common environmental advice, and so appropriate for us on a spiritual level: Rethink, Reduce, Reuse, and Recycle. Let’s play with a Metaphysical Interpretation, meaning it is happening within us!

The 4 R's for MetaSpiritual Earth Day

RETHINK

Do you realize that every single action you take, every response  you give, every decision you enact, comes from a choice you make? Rethinking is all about awareness. So often, you act on autopilot — on default. What if you got in the habit of becoming aware? Take a moment and think before doing anything. As you pause, people might think you’re strange — but, hey, people already think we are all a little weird, right?

Here’s an example of how it works. Last week, I was involved in an issue with a client, who wasn’t sending me the material I needed in order to get their book to the printer in time to meet their rush deadline (I call it “Goal-line!). Between the printer and the author, it was creating quite a crisis mentality where I was—in the middle! So I used this technique. I simply paused, took a deep breath, and made a conscious decision that someone else’s crisis did not have to create a crisis for me. From that perception, I was able to stay calm, talk with everyone rationally, and eventually get to the result we needed. By aligning with my Divine Nature, I was able to rethink the situation, and handle it better.

REDUCE

Environmentally, we are asked to reduce our use of non-earth-friendly items. From a spiritual point of view, we can take steps to reduce our use of things, ideas, and actions that are toxic to our body. So often we get in a hurry, and from that mindset, we grab some fast food, gulp down a high-test soft drink, and keep moving -- with no rest or exercise to soften the blow! Remember the verse from 1 Corinthians 3:16 (New International Version): Don't you know that you yourselves are God's temple and that God's Spirit lives in you?

Our body is the home for the Goddness of who we are! Are we treating it accordingly? There’s a cute story about Charles Fillmore ~ who was a vegetarian ~ at one of the Unity Village picnics, where someone gave him a hotdog – and he jokingly nailed it to a tree! That made a point!

If our body is a holy temple, let’s reduce the negative impact of our thoughts and actions, and increase our positive impact. Here’s an affirmation I have been using for years! I actually discovered it back in the 70s (wish I’d realized its power back then!) from one of the very first books I read that stretched my thinking about spirituality: Wisdom of the Mystic Masters. Now this kind of goes against the normal recommendations for an affirmation, because it is long … but I have to tell you, it is extremely powerful!

I have now transcended all patterns of illness. I’m free and healthy. My mind and body now manifest divine perfection. I love and accept my body completely. I am good to my body and my body is good to me. I give thanks for ever-increasing health, beauty, and vitality. I am a radiant expression of God!

REUSE

They say “Necessity is the mother of invention!” By reusing things we have for another purpose, we cut down on our need for more “stuff!” From a metaphysical point of view, let’s see how that applies.

How often do you find yourself searching frantically for the next spiritual cure-all — the next “Secret” that will satisfy your spiritual longings, and be the magic potion for success? Why not reuse what we already possess ~ the Truth principles that are the foundation of our spiritual abundance, fulfillment, health, and prosperity.

Pull out those staples of prayer, meditation, denials, and affirmations, and reuse them. They are based on Truth, they are powerful, and they work! And you already have them, right in your tool kit! You just need to remember who you are! And an added bonus: These are both reusable AND non-depletable resources -- they never run out!

RECYCLE

To recycle means to use materials over again to make a new product. Recycling is actually what metaphysical interpretations are all about! Oh, wow!  We can see your compact fluorescent light bulbs going off already!

Think about this: We have a lot of old tapes running around in our consciousness: ideas about God, religion, relationships, prosperity -- you name it! What if we did some recycling? What if we take those experiences, and recycle them through the new knowledge, the Truth,  Divine Understanding, that we now possess?

All of a sudden, we are no longer locked in by our past! We can re-cause our present experience through our recycling process! Same information, but we are interpreting it in a different way! With our new Consciousness, we can use everything for good, for growth, for Divinely Ordering our experience. As we transform our thinking, we literally transform the consciousness of the planet

Here's an interesting experiment performed by a class of 3-year-olds in Blawneberg, NJ. In October, after the class has carved their pumpkins for Halloween, the teacher takes the class outside, where they bury their pumpkin pulp, along with a piece of construction paper and a Styrofoam cup. They mark the spot with a flag, listing the date of this event.

Then, around Earth Day, the teacher takes the class back to that spot, and they dig it up. It is obvious what has happened: the pumpkin is mostly liquid (surrounded by a bunch of earthworms); the construction paper is falling apart; but the Styrofoam remains as it was originally. This becomes a great object lesson for using earth-friendly materials and recycling.

Imagine that Styrofoam cup represents our past experiences, the angers we hold on to, the resentments, the incorrect beliefs, the negative attitudes? As long as they remain in our consciousness, they are blocks to our growth and spiritual development. It’s time to recycle -- take that energy and use it for powerful good! Take all this “stuff” to Headquarters for recycling, and just watch what Spirit can do with them!

As we think about Earth Day, it becomes obvious to us that it shouldn’t be a “day,” but rather a way of life. Whether is it our planet Earth, or our biological address, we invite you to transform your consciousness through Rethinking, Reducing, Reusing, and Recycling … and experience the true energy and abundance that is yours!
